The following is really long, and may have nothing to do with your question lol
As Muppeteer Caroll Spinney has aged, the show has gradually started to train new performers to play Big Bird. These apprentices include both Rick Lyon in the opening theme song of the show's 33rd season on, and Matt Vogel in the show's Journey to Ernie segment.
Caroll Spinney was sick during the taping of a few first season episodes, so Daniel Seagren performed Big Bird in those episodes. He also performed Big Bird when he appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1969. According to The Story of Jim Henson by Stephanie St. Pierre, the costume was built for Jim Henson to perform, but when Jim Henson tried it on, Kermit Love, who had built the costume, didn't think that Jim Henson was walking like a bird is supposed to walk, and Jim decided not to perform Big Bird. Frank Oz was offered the part, but since he hated performing full-body characters, he turned down the job.
The Big Bird performer is completely enclosed within the costume, and extends his right hand over his head to operate the head and neck of the puppet. The muppeteer's left hand serves as the Bird's left hand, while the right hand is stuffed and hangs loosely from a fishing line (which can occasionally be seen in closeup shots) that runs through a loop under the neck and attaches to the wrist of the left hand. The right hand thus does the opposite of the left hand: as the left hand goes down, the right hand is pulled up by the fishing line. For some of the Journey to Ernie segments, a second puppeteer (usually Jim Martin) controls Big Bird's right hand. He is concealed by dressing in a body suit the same color as their chroma key background (something that obviously can't be done on the main Sesame Street set).

how do i make a sally (nightmare before christmas) costume?
im being sally ( from nightmare before christmas)for hallowween. and im making the dress myself because the premade costumes look cheesy. so i was wondering if anyone had any good sewing tips or any tips at all to make it look good?
The easiest thing to do would probably be to buy a cheap cotton dress from a thrift store and then sew fabric patches over it yourself. Creating a patchwork dress from scratch would take forever and would be very labour-intensive! Unless you could find a cool patchwork-printed fabric somewhere.
Buy a pair of sheer white pantyhose and draw on the "seams" with black marker. Use white makeup on your face and arms, and draw on the seams with black makeup. Good luck!

Last month we showed you how to understand gold markings. This month, we explore silver markings.
The Federal Trade Commission is the U.S. consumer's protection against fraud in jewelry appraisal, identification and grading standards. This agency works with the jewelry industry so you can understand the stamped hallmarks that guarantee the purity of metal used by jewelers.
Silver is a mystical white metal is used alone and in alloys for making jewelry. Sterling silver is 92.5 percent (925 parts) pure silver and 7.5 percent (75 parts) accompanying alloy.
Like gold, silver content and quality must be accurately signified. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has established a set of stamps and markings to represent silver content and you should look for them when making a silver purchase. Only jewelry that is at least 92.5 percent pure silver can be called or labeled "silver," "solid silver," "sterling silver," or "sterling."
Appropriate markings include: "925," ".925," or "92.5." Though not approved, I have also seen it marked "ss". Silver-plated items must be identified as "silver plated," "silver coated," or "plated with silver."
There is a new type of silver on the market: Fine Silver. Fine Silver is 99.9 percent (999 parts) pure silver and .1 percent (1 part) accompanying alloy. It is stamped or marked as .999 or .999FS.
Fine silver is very much an up and coming item, especially with the introduction of the metal clays such as Art Clay Silver, which have come into the market. These "clays" fire to .999 fine silver - about the same hardness as 18K cast gold.

I don't know how crafty you are but you have many many options.
If you make your own all you need is about 3 yards of fabric or less (Depends on how short you want it) make a short little tube dress or your own little black dress you already have then add electrical tape and accessories.
Bumblebee-
add yellow stripes using yellow electrical tape to your black dress
yellow/black antenna accessory (headband and pipe cleaners)
on the back use tape to make the shape of cute little wings.
Witch/Cat
black fabric tube dress or a little black dress you already own
Witch Hat for witch
black fabric headband with ears and fabric tail for cat
Pirate/eyepatch and sword purchased at the dollar store and a bandanna. You can add a pirate corset using red electrical tape to your tube dress.
Escaped from jail/or from the game: add white horizontal stripes to black dress with white electrical tape or add white stripes vertically for a referee outfit, just add plastic handcuffs or a whistle, oh and you can get those cute Knee High socks for the referee outfit.

old cowgirl boots and pear snap buttoned shirt then dollar store a cap gun. Any thrift store should have some western wear. If your crafty you can make a western dress out of bandanna fabric (pretty sure this fabric is inexpensive at walmart) is cute for this and then make yourself a sexy thigh holster for your gun. You can add a vest with lots of fringe.
